The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has officially unveiled the Digital National ID. This digital ID functions as the official electronic version of the Philippine national ID, offering valid identification for both governmental and private sector transactions.
According to the PSA, more than 87 million Filipinos who have already enrolled in the national ID system can now obtain their Digital National ID. To access it, citizens can visit the national-id.gov.ph 4.1K
portal or download the eGovPH 1.6K application on their smartphones and computers. This digital ID is expected to enhance the efficiency and quality of service delivery to the Filipino populace.
Despite the launch of the digital version, the PSA will continue to issue physical IDs to those registered with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
Government bodies such as the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) have commended the new digital ID. They noted its potential to greatly improve the efficiency of public service delivery.
The introduction of the Digital National ID represents a significant advancement in the Philippines’ efforts to modernize its identification systems, making government services more accessible and efficient for all citizens.
