With rumors circulating about Telegram and plans to introduce a premium, paid subscription plan for users. Now, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov has confirmed that it will be happening within the month.

Durov made it official through his official Telegram channel that “Telegram Premium” will be coming soon after almost a decade since its release. He stated that the premium tier will be made for fans of telegram who want to “raise the current limits even further” and “go beyond what is already crazy” without compromising its free service for everyone else.

Although no official announcement has been made on the features of Telegram Premium, Durov stated that it will allow premium users to acquire additional features, speed, resources, and be the first in receiving new features.

For those who don’t wish to pay for Telegram Premium, Durov stated that all users will still be able to access all of the existing features on Telegram for free. He further stated that new free features would be coming and that some Telegram Premium benefits would be made available for all, such as viewing extra-large documents.

He ended by saying that Telegram’s experiments with privacy-focused ads have been more successful than expected and emphasized that its users will always be the main priority and should be the source of funding, not advertisers.
