Meta has introduced 4 new features on Instagram starting in India (via The Indian Express) but is expected to introduce these features globally to all users in the near future.

The new features previewed include Birthdays, Multiple Lists in Stories, Audio Notes, and Selfie Video Notes. All of which are targeted to the Gen Z audience.

Birthdays

Instagram will soon let friends and followers know when it’s their birthday by showing a Birthday Effect on their birthday.

Users can do this by adding new pictures or effects such as confetti to their profile picture.

Audio Notes & Selfie Video Notes

Notes were recently introduced in the DM section of Instagram to showcase different feelings, moods, or any note someone would want to share with their followers.

Audio Notes will soon be a thing with users being able to leave a voice recording as a note and with Selfie Video Notes, users will now be able to capture a short video as a note for 24 hours.

Multiple Lists in Stories

Currently, Instagram only allows two different lists when posting on stories, that is all your followers or your close friends.

Soon, Instagram may be rolling out the ability to create more lists beyond just a Close Friends lists. So users can have separate lists for high school friends, college friends, family, work mates, lovers, and more.
