Meralco is cutting power rates anew by P0.29 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in August amid lower generation charges.
his means bills may go down by about P58 for customers consuming 200kWh of electricity, P87 for those consuming 300 kWh, P116 at 400 kWh, and P145 for those who consume 500 kWh a month.In a statement, the power distributor said generation charges went down to P6.3929 per kWh from P6.6066 per kWh in July.
Charges from the wholesale electricity spot market also dropped by P1.2873 per kWh as demand in the Luzon grid dampened by around 200 MW amid the rainy season.
Charges from power supply agreements meanwhile went down by P0.1688 per kWh due to lower fuel prices and the peso’s appreciation, Meralco said.
Transmission and other charges, which include taxes and subsidies, also decreased by P0.0771.
Meralco cut power rates by P0.72 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in July on the back of a lower generation charge.
