Twitter confirms working on long-form blogging feature

Twitter has confirmed testing a new feature ‘Twitter Notes’ that lets user write longer form of content. The feature is currently in testing and only available to select group of writers at the time being.

Despite the limited access, Notes can be read on or off Twitter “in most countries”, and several writers had their Notes already posted under the company’s tweet where they wrote the announcement.

In the same tweet, the company shared a walkthrough on how the feature works. Along the left side of the UI (on web) is its own ‘Write’ tab where users are brought to another page to start writing. The interface looked like any other blogging platform, and users may insert tweets, photos, and videos on it. They can then embed a finished Note on a tweet.

Currently, tweets are limited to only 280 characters and adding such feature will apparently change Twitter’s identity that is defined by that limited writing. Twitter in its early days only had 140 character limit on tweets.
