Heads up, content creators! YouTube has updated their ‘inappropriate language’ guidelines for ad-friendly content.

YouTube has changed their guidelines regarding the use of profanities. Effective on March 7, should a video have moderate profanity, it is eligible for monetization. If stronger profanity is used repeatedly throughout or within the first seven seconds of the video, then it will receive less advertisements unlike before where no ad revenue will be received.

Videos that have profanity in music, be it backing tracks, background music, or intro/outro songs, can now experience full ad revenue. Thumbnails or titles that include profanity will still be demonetized and not receive ad revenue.
