A quick flashback ninety years ago; in a small hill in the center of San Fernando; a small "sawali" made 6-bed hospital was established in 1921 as the first mission hospital in La Union. Seven years later, through a $30,000.00 donation from an anonymous donor, and a P14,000 contribution from both Catholics and Protestants, coming from the local community, a 3-storey modern hospital made of concrete was contructed.
Indeed this past 90 years could be compared to undulating waves of ups and downs, yet, we at Bethany Hospital are thankful for the Divine Guidance and to the magnanimous support of the Board of Trustees. Today, Bethany Hospital has transformed from the oldest to one of the most modern hospitals not only in La Union but also in the Ilocos Region. The hospital stands magnificently in a "small hill" in the center of town restored to its former grandeur befitting to the call of the modern ministry of healing.
