Duros Group of Companies is a family-owned corporation belonging to the holding company, San-Vic Holding Company, Inc., with its primary headquarters in Yati, Lilo-an, Cebu.
Emerging from humble beginnings, Chairman Rafaelito Alducente Barino from Cebu City and his wife, Fe Mantuhac from San Vicente, Lilo-an Cebu, led the Mantuhac siblings and their kin to start the San-Vic Traders, Inc., in 1987. San-Vic Traders started by retailing agricultural products and, later on, delving into other trading goods, including painting merchandise. One of the company’s noteworthy painting projects was to service the buildings and machinery of San Miguel Corporation. The task required a construction business license, a step that led to the birth of the company’s construction firm, The Duros Development Corporation, a business established on September 25, 1990, with the word Duros taken from the word dura, the Latin for strong and durable.
Duros Development Corporation started as a painting contractor and later engaged in road construction in 1995. The company’s first road construction project was Cebu’s North Road from Consolacion to Danao City –a P60-million subcontracted project from the Korean Company, Donsung Construction Company.
Duros Development Corporation then acquired an old asphalt plant and other equipment imported from Korea through bank financing. This necessary and inevitable measure has helped sustain the company that we now know. Up until now, Duros remains committed to its promise of providing better and safer communities through quality, service, and well-designed infrastructure.
